Google Glasses

No they are not ready for sale yet but Google have really branched out now. Can you imaging the time that you will save but it could also be very annoying. I think it would take time to get used to wearing them. I think it could also be a distraction – let me know what you think.

Google and Bing Changes

There have been changes that are really causing a lot of trouble for some web site owners and I do not want you to be one of them. If you are an internet marketer take some time to listen to this recording.

Goggle has been de-indexing sites over the last few weeks both private and public networks. Some that have been hit very hard are SEO Link Vine, HighPrSociety, Baclinkmonster and several others. These are site that were providing backlinks.

If you have been using sites like these to create your backlinks, then you could also be in trouble but if you have only used them sparingly – you should avoid being de-indexed.

Google actually joined these sites and saw first hand how they operated. They found that some links were actually going to sites that had no relevance.

So instead of me rewriting all that Matt Cuts and his friends  Danny Sullivan and Duane Forrester had to say – this is where he posted all the information.

I really think with such major changes, you need to know what is happening that could affect you and your site.

Let me know what you think of these changes. They are definitely going to play havoc with some sites bu they may benefit you.

Google Changes

Over the last couple of weeks Google has released some major changes but that is just the beginning. There are a lot more changes coming in the next week.

They have had changes to Panda as well as refreshing their algorithm several times during March.

If you list your business address in Google Places, this can now have a devastating effect on your business. What was accepted before, Google now will not accept and this alone can drop your business listing.

The results for the business could be very bad. If you start sliding in ranking you will potentially have less people visiting your site and that equates to less customers. No one would want to lose their position on the front page in the number one position.

Google have started de-indexing some of the major blog networks. This does not sound like good news. Most of their changes are due by the end of the month.

Google touched on the way they viewed backlinks when Panda came out but now they are again saying that there will be changing their total strategy regarding backlinks.

It is difficult to keep up with all their changes but I have been invited to a webinar where some of these changes are going to be explained.

We all need to know the changes that Google are implementing so that we can take advantage and not start dropping in our rating. It is my intention next blog to tell you all about the webinar and how you can take advantage and increase your ranking and potentially get more traffic. So if you are an internet marketer, make sure that you read my blog next week and see what the changes are.

Facebook Changes

We are now in for a revolution at Facebook and there are changes that are due to change the entire net.

Look at this snap shot of the speed Facebook is rising in popularity. There are two graphs here taken from Google Trends. The first is that popularity between Google and Facebook. It is easy to see which is the more popular.

The second graph shows the difference in popularity of Facebook and YouTube.

Late last year Facebook introduced Timeline and has been steadily rolling it out more and more. Timeline is a way of highlighting your photos and posts and showing everything you have every put on your Facebook page.  It show your life on Facebook as a time line – from beginning to end

Now today, I found out from a Facebook insider, that Facebook have done this to see if  you will create pages they can get WordPress users to use this instead of WordPress. These created pages are like a mini site.

When you get Timeline you must know to use it. This is a video Introducing Timeline.  I think it is easier if you watch the video at the top of the page. It shows you what a Timeline is all about. This is a direct line to the help center of Facebook. They have covered everything. There are new features that have been incorporated into the new Facebook.

One new feature is the cover. This cover can be a photo or an image but the size of the cover is 851 pixels wide and 315 pixels high. Now if you upload any other size it will be stretched or cropped to this size. The image you want to upload must be a minimum of 399 pixels wide.

You cover image cannot contain certain information. To find out the new rules regarding what you can say and what you cannot go and read the new rules.

It is estimated that there are nearly a billion people now on Facebook and that number is on the increase every day. Now if that was a country, it would be one of the three largest populated countries in the world beside India and China.

When you look at the two graphs above, you can see how it is  increasing in popularity. So if you are not on Facebook, it may be time for you to join. You can certainly understand why people are joining and some people have mastered Facebook and are making a six figure income per month. Yes it is per month.

Google Panda

Do you know all about Google Panda? I decided that I would do a little research on it because when it was introduced in March 2011 some sites benefited with a rise in rankings while other sites lost out and started sliding in rankings.

The person responsible for Panda is a Google engineer named Navneet Panda. What he did was change the machine learning scalability of Google.

This means that sites are now rated for quality. Google now looks to see if the site is trustworthy and is credible. The sites that people show they like are placed in one group and the sites that are not favored are put into another group. The sites that are liked less are downgraded using Google’s Panda system.

So Panda has really done something new and different regarding SEO. It is now not just a matter of including all you keywords and getting the search engines to visit, you also have to think about the people that want to come to your site knowing they can trust it. Links are not as valuable as they were with Panda.

Panda relies on the popularity of your site and you should know how they do that. They measure how many visitors are coming to your site and how many pages they are reading while they are there. They measure this through Chrome, Android and Google toolbar. The more pages read, the more popular your site is. The more people that tweet or forward your site address to others will help increase your popularity.

Unique content is not as important as it was. How popular your site is, will now allow Panda to increase or decrease your rankings.

Now that I have read up on Google about Panda, I believe they are ready to make changes within a few weeks, so we are in for interesting times.

Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year (中国新年快乐)!

This is the year of the Dragon and it is going to be a great year for all who want to take action and move forward with their business online.

Don’t think of your site as a blog, start thinking of it as a business that you are going to receive the money flowing from it. If you think of it as a business, you will approach it differently. Admittedly, it is a lot cheaper than running a business off line but is a growing business that needs input from you and others to make it successful.

Well now that I have mentioned your business online, there has been a massive change from Google and this is going to affect your business. The change has been made to the search engine algorithms.

I think rather than me try and disseminate all that Matt Cutts has said, I will just post a link to it here. Even the Internet Marketing Junkie just copied and pasted.

http://www.theinternetmarketingjunkie.com/googles-new-page-layout-algorithm-change/

You will see that you may have to change your site. You may have to change any ads so that they appear below the fold. By doing this, you should be able to maintain or increase you ranking with Google.

By changing just this simple thing, your visitor will have a better experience when they land on your page.

Google Updated

For the latest news on Google.  On Tuesday 10 January 2012 Google updated its search engine to include personal info from Google+.

This has been a total change for Google because now when people now type in for a search, Google will include personal information. This update is called “Search, Plus Your World.”

The Google robots are going to incorporate any data from Social Networks and from the public internet sites when it carries out its search.

They are promoting their Google + and they want to become stronger competition with Facebook. They are losing huge market share to Facebook. Facebook has taken a lot of revenue from Google by allowing advertising. The Facebook ads are a lot less expensive than Google is charging for the same keywords.

This is what Danny Sullivan said -‘On the prominent blog Search Engine Land, Danny Sullivan writes that the updates   fundamentally change the way Google’s search engine functions, calling it the “most radical” change ever.

“The new system will perhaps make life much easier for some people, allowing them to find both privately shared content from friends and family plus material from across the Web through a single search, rather than having to search twice using two different systems,” he writes.’

So if you are searching on Google, today you will get a totally different result to what you have before. This update includes social and personal content and you will receive date and images from Google+.

There has been some talk that there could be some privacy problems that could arise. I think Google would have thought of that before they updated.

I personally think it is a good move but there may be some that do not like it. It is going to interesting to see what the next move is.

Get More Traffic!

You have finally got your blog up and running and you are posting information there that is helping your readers. What you really want now is to get some visitors or traffic to your site.

What is the best way to achieve that? These are what I would suggest you do.

1. Sign up for a autoresponder account. I prefer Aweber for this. Go and create an opt-in box and offer your visitors a free gift that is applicable to you niche. This means if you are in the golf niche you can offer them a free report on how to improve their golf swing or something similar. They have to sign it to get the gift.

2. Share your blog with others through the social media sites and social networking sites.

This is a list of some you can use.

http://stumbleupon.com

http://digg.com

http://reddit.com

http://delicious.com

https://facebook.com

3. Read and post comment on other peoples blogs. Make sure that the comment is meaningful. Read the person’s blog before you add a comment. This will also give you a link to your blog as long as you include your URL in the correct box.

4. Make sure that you add your site address to your signature when you are sending out correspondence.

5. If you are using WordPress as your blogging platform, it will automatically ping your posts, but you can also manually ping them yourself.

6. Manually submit your blog to Google, Yahoo and Bing.

7. Include your blog URL on your business card or a flyer you may produce.

8. Make sure you include an RSS feed on your site. This is very easy when you are using WordPress.

9. If you have other sites, you may want to set up a “Blog Roll” and have the sites linked.

10. Write content for your blog on a regular basis. Include external and internal links in your posts.

11. Write some articles and post them on these sites and link back. Unique content is best but always when using blogging platforms, check out there terms and conditions.

Royality Free Photos

There is a saying that a picture is worth a thousand words but if you don’t have your own pictures, you need to know where to go to get them.

There is a great site that a lot of people do not know about – where you can be guaranteed to get Royalty Free photos.

Go to where you can sign into Google.

Click on images first and then Advanced search. You will the be taken to another page.

I have only captured the bottom of this page because these are the most import thing you have to change if you want royalty free photos. The modification feature allows you to actually modify these images.

This is most important that you use the second radio button here and then you tick both for “Commercial Use” and “Modification.” I also like to use the “Strict Filtering” Button.

Then go to the very bottom right hand corner and click “Search Images.”

Type in what you want to search for and as you see, I typed in Traffic, and there are over 30,200 images available.

I believe that you have plenty of images to go through in each category you choose.

Before you download any photos make sure that the words “labeled for commercial reuse with modification” are at the top of your screen.

So if you have found this helpful, leave me a comment.
